Smoke Alarm and C/O Detector Safety Tips

• Contact a reputable licensed electrician for your state-specific guidelines:  i.e., number of smoke alarms and C/O detectors required, installation, proper placement, important how to’s, connections to a home circuit, and maintenance.

• Test this equipment monthly.

•  Change batteries (even back-ups) yearly.  A good time for taking care of this is when you change your clocks for Daylight Savings.

• Smoke alarms should be replaced every 8 years, while C/O detectors should be replaced every 10 years.

• Do not paint them.
